A New Year, a Fresh Start

Welcome to 2016, and welcome to Musings by Ruth Anne!

As you may have noticed from my ‘accidental’ post a few weeks ago, I have been revising my blog. It has been almost 6 years since my last post which I wrote during our stay in Paris. Now the writing bug has hit me again and it’s time to rejuvenate my blog. Who knows what I’ll write about this time! We’re not in Paris any more; so no exotic travels to describe to you, but I’m sure something will emerge.

My first task has been to try out a new WordPress template or theme as WordPress calls them. Anyone who has gone through the process of choosing a template from the myriads on the WordPress website knows what agony this can be. It is difficult to know exactly what features the template has and how they will display in your own blog, but at some point you just have to take the plunge.

This time I bypassed the free versions and splurged on a paid theme called ‘Janice’. One of the reasons was that it displays beautifully on a variety of devices from mobile phones, to tablets and computer screens. I hope you enjoy it, but please bear with me as I continue to tweak its features in the coming weeks. I have not yet plumbed the depths of what ‘Janice’ has to offer, but it was time to start writing. No more procrastinating!

David and I are spending most of our time in Vancouver at the moment and, as you can tell from the photo at the top of this post, we are enduring a typically ‘rough’ West Coast winter. We survived the cold temperatures (down to minus 5!) in December and the occasional snow flurries. Now the sun is coming out and the snowdrops are appearing. This photo was taken during our walk in Queen Elizabeth Park this afternoon.

However, we did spend 2 weeks on Salt Spring over Christmas and I must admit we did have more snow there. Nevertheless, I do enjoy winter in BC much more than past winters in Ontario. I have somehow convinced myself that I don’t need to experience several months of cold and snow any more.

Seasons’ Greetings to everyone and a very Happy New Year!

Glad your new resolution is to post your Musings on your Blog site. We look forward to many more.
As a true West Coaster, you managed to show with a minimum of smirk – the lovely fall and winter photos of this area, so that those less fortunate who live elsewhere in the snow can see what we enjoy. Lovely photos!
