    Our Vacation Home

    May 25, 2023 / 2 Comments

Two years ago we resurrected our desire to go camping. Covid had found us spending most of our time at home, which was not a big problem since we have plenty of beautiful wooded land to enjoy on Salt Spring Island.…

    Time for New Adventures

    May 23, 2023 / 3 Comments

It’s May 2023. Spring has finally arrived after several long, cool weeks. We have finished (for now) tending to the garden – weeding, fertilizing, planting. The pink rhododendron in the photo is in our northwest flower bed, and the bees are…

I have known Mary and her sister since I was a teenager. They are our second cousins, the daughters of Ida Babcock and Herb Stocks. Since they are about 10 years older than my sister and I, we were in awe…

As a teenager, I always looked forward to our visits to Aurora to see my great-aunt, Aunt May, and her family. My mother, sister and I would drive the 75 km to their house to spend the afternoon with them, usually…

Charlotte Regina Francis, my 2nd great grandmother, was born March 30, 1842 in Brooklin, Ontario, the eighth and last child of Henry Francis and Sarah Stacy. I have often wondered how that middle name was chosen for her. Was the family…

About Me

I have been writing and publishing articles since I was a teenager. It is a bit startling to realize that I have been doing this for so long. I began with short newspaper reports during high school, then moved on to newsletters for various organizations. This blog was created in 2010 to report on my trip to Paris, and I now post occasionally on various subjects as the spirit moves. I hope you enjoy it!
